How the calculation works
Sector benchmarks
Each sector has a rate multiplier derived from published consulting rate surveys and procurement data. Legal and financial services sit at the top. Education and non-profit at the lower end.
Experience adjustment
Rates increase with experience up to around 30 years, reflecting the depth of judgment and pattern recognition that comes with tenure. The adjustment is applied on top of the sector benchmark.
Three output models
Day rate for time-and-materials work. Project fee for defined engagements with a buffer and risk premium. Monthly retainer for ongoing access, priced at a certainty discount.
Note on accuracy. These figures are benchmarks, not guarantees. Actual rates vary by client size, geography, project urgency, and individual reputation.
